It was never published. However, it is related to Whistler's unpublished 'Renaissance Set'.
EXHIBITIONS
No exhibitions are known in Whistler's lifetime, though after his death it was shown at the Grolier Club in New York in 1904 and in the Whistler Memorial Exhibition in London in 1905. 9

SALES & COLLECTORS
Whistler sold an impression on 10 December 1888 to the London art dealers, Messrs Dowdeswell for £5.5.0 (probably 
) but it was returned on the 19th. 10 He sold a 'first state' on 27 March 1889 to the Fine Art Society, London (, numbered '14' in the sales list, and on the verso of the print), also for £5.5.0. 11 The former was bought later from Obach & Co. by Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919) in 1903, and the latter by Howard Mansfield (1849-1938). From Mansfield it passed via A.A.Hahlo & Co. to Harris G. Whittemore (d. ca 1937), and was acquired by the Library of Congress. Freer's impression was left to the Freer Gallery of Art, so both known impressions ended up in Washington DC.
