EXHIBITIONS
It was exhibited in several print dealer's shows, by H. Wunderlich & Co. in New York in 1898 and 1903, and by Obach & Co. in London in 1903. Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919) bought impressions of two states from Wunderlich's in 1903 (, ). 7
In 1904 two impressions were shown at the Grolier Club in New York. Others were shown at the big Memorial Exhibitions after Whistler's death, in Boston, London, Paris and Rotterdam. It was Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958) - Whistler's sister-in-law - who lent an impression to the latter show ( or ). 8

SALES & COLLECTORS
Whistler sold an impression to the London print dealer, Thomas M. McLean (b. ca 1832), on 21 December 1887 for £6.6.0. 9 He also sold one on 3 May 1888, through H. Wunderlich & Co., in New York, to Ross Revillon Winans (1850-1912) for £6.6.0. 10
Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919) bought impressions of two states from Wunderlich's in 1903 (, ).
Howard Mansfield (1849-1938) owned an impression that was sold through A. A. Hahlo & Co., New York, to Harris G. Whittemore (d. ca 1937) and later went to the Library of Congress, Washington, DC. ().
Two impressions remained in Whistler's estate (, ) and were left to Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958), who lent an impression to the Rotterdam show of 1906 and bequeathed both to the University of Glasgow.
