There is no signature or inscription.
While Kennedy noted that 'the only impressions known are from the cancelled plate,' but, in fact, the copper plate was never cancelled. 3 The drypoint was published in the 'Cancelled Set' by the Fine Art Society, London, in 1879, but impressions from that volume resemble the earlier impressions that have been located (see
). The drawing on the plate is scratchy and unfinished, but it was not deliberately defaced.
