After Whistler's death an impression was exhibited at the Grolier Club in New York in 1904, and, again lent by Mansfield (), in the Memorial Exhibition in Boston in 1904 (). Another, probably lent by Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958) () was included in the Memorial Exhibition in Paris in 1905. 8

SALES & COLLECTORS
Single impressions of this rare etching were sold by Whistler to H. Wunderlich & Co. of New York on 24 May 1889, and to Knoedler & Co., also New York dealers, on 20 July 1889, for £12.12.0. 9
Whistler kept one impression for himself (). It was bequeathed to Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958) who passed it to the University of Glasgow.
Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919) bought the impression from Wunderlich's in 1889, and bequeathed it to the Freer Gallery of Art (). Howard Mansfield (1849-1938) acquired the Knoedler's impression (it was No. 10 in their list, and '(No 10)' is written on the verso) and it was later bought by Harris G. Whittemore (d. ca 1937), and then by the Library of Congress ().
