Provenance:Listed by E. G. Kennedy in 1910 as formerly owned by J. Caldwell (John Caldwell, Pittsburgh, PA (1882-1907)?). Bought by Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919), Detroit, MI, 1898; bequeathed to the Freer Gallery of Art, Washington, DC, 1919.
