Provenance:Probably acquired from Whistler by Francis Seymour Haden (1818-1910), London; bought from Hermann Wunderlich & Co., New York (receipt, 9 November 1898), through T. W. Dewing acting as agent for Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919), Detroit, MI, 1898; bequeathed to the Freer Gallery of Art, Washington, DC, 1919.
