Note on foul biting:many scattered flecks; with larger patches of foul biting at upper left and lower centre  
Print note:The fine drypoint lines and butterfly signature in the plate print slightly stronger than on FGA 1887.21; that, coupled with the absence of regular tone over the bridge, laundry hanging on it and figures standing on its span at right, is possible evidence that the regular tonal areas were caused by the paper or cloth used to wrap the plate between printings; this impression of Kennedy's state VIII is earlier than 1887.12
