Print note: | Some blots at the bottom, and areas at right where the brush has been tried out; the wash suggests that the dress originally went straight down over her chair. Note there is another head or portrait upside down. The fur is her tippet. Mansfield described the medium of the additional work as 'India ink', but it is applied as black and grey wash (fine work seems to be in brush or 'reed' pen); Susan Kitsoulis of the FGA says the medium does look like India ink to her. |
