Provenance:Published in a set of 57 cancelled plates by the Fine Art Society, London, 1879. Alphonse Wyatt Thibaudeau (ca 1840 - d.1892); Thibaudeau sale, Sotheby's, London, 13 December 1889 (lot 787 or 789), sold to Robert Dunthorne, London, for £0.6.0; acquired by Miss Rosalind Birnie Philip in exchange transaction; bequeathed to the University of Glasgow, 1958.

Birnie Philip'. Inscribed on the binding of the volume is 'WHISTLER'S ETCHINGS'. In front of volume, : 'R D Dunthorne', 'SN 434 49 - 789'
