| Print tone: | There is a very light print tone that is slightly more pronounced in the upper third where it gives definition to the sky and background landscape. |
| Note on foul biting: | There is foul biting at the right edge and pitting throughout. Around the house and sky there are areas of fine granular tone and fine acid spots (bubbles) particularly at the upper right and in front of the house (Whistler appears to be playing with tonal effects and texturing). |
| Print note: | There is a rich velvety drypoint burr on the figure of the woman and trees. Retroussage is also used on the trees and house to give deep inky effects. |
