Misc inscriptions by others: | 'T.G.A[rthur]' inscription in album, dated 29 October 1887. Graphite inscription on front flyleaf, 'Mons. Thibadeau tells me that these plates were sold at the sale when Whistler was made a bankrupt, and, as T. puts it, were scratched over by W. to defraud his creditors - they were then bought by the Fine Arts Society Bond St. from whom Thibadeau acquired them - he has more recently got several other plates in the same condition, among which are several others … also undescribed by Wedmore. 29 oct '87 T.G.A. '89 Thibadeau [billed?] from Creditors Contains 11 etchings, the only impressions of which are from the cancelled plates.' Graphite inscription on front pastedown 'bought 188[8?] Thiobadeau L.L.' |
