Print note: | Remnant of earlier etched image below figure's feet and in lower portion of skirt: two shaded rectangular frames and small round vessel (?). The new shadow at left and series of horizontal lines at left that denote the step or ledge are executed in drypoint. There are patches of tone where the plate was not cleanly wiped, which have a dirty appearance; however this might be the effect of re-biting the plate, before it was burnished or polished smooth, so that the slightly bitten surface holds the ink. |
