A young woman with a fan probably dates from the late 1880s or early 1890s. It is on an unusual copper plate, supplied by Georges Mazarine, Paris, who also supplied the plate used for A man standing, facing front [377]; it is therefore assumed that they are of similar date. However, both are faint and unfinished and very hard to date.
