The Whistler Estate, bequeathed by Rosalind Birnie Philip, 1958
Hunterian Art Gallery, GLAHA 49908

The painter Fantin-Latour, one of Whistler's oldest friends, lived in the Rue des Beaux-Arts in Paris. Whistler printed only two or three impressions of the etching. The copper plate was bequeathed to his sister-in-law, Rosalind Birnie Philip. This is one of three known posthumous impressions, sensitively printed by Nathaniel Sparks (1880-1956) on Asian laid paper.
