Whistler kept a record of his progress in printing and selling Tilbury. Five impressions were printed by 19 August 1887, two on 23 August and four on the following day, and seven on 1 September 1887. On 20 August he sold an impression of Tilbury, hot off the press, to the print dealer Thomas McLean, for £7.7.0. These records are in Special Collections in Glasgow University Library.
