Whistler kept a record of his progress in printing and selling Tilbury. Five impressions were printed by 19 August 1887, two on 23 August and four on the following day, and seven on 1 September 1887. On 20 August he sold an impression of Tilbury, hot off the press, to the print dealer Thomas McLean, for 7.7.0. These records are in Special Collections in Glasgow University Library.
