The Whistler Estate, presented by Rosalind Birnie Philip, 1935.
Hunterian Art Gallery, GLAHA 46626

Whistler, with a studio in the Fulham Road and house at The Vale, Chelsea, drew and painted the local shops. This second-hand shop displays garments shaped by former owners, a striped blanket, a carpet on a peg. Whistler drew with expressive, broken lines, dots and patches of shading. He printed a small edition - about twelve - and sold each for £10.10.0 (which could have bought everything in the shop).
