Head of a Girl

Copper plate
The Whistler Estate, presented by Rosalind Birnie Philip, 1935
Hunterian Art Gallery, GLAHA 50520

The copper plates from Whistler's estate include several such as this, previously unrecorded, which may well have been printed by the artist, but of which no impression survives. Although they have been cancelled, it may be possible to print from these plates. However, enormous care must be taken, because copper is very soft and the lines could wear down quickly.
