1901Copper plate
The Whistler Estate, presented by Rosalind Birnie Philip, 1935
Hunterian Art Gallery, GLAHA 50522
Whistler sent the copper plates back to his sister-in-law, saying, 'The plates ... of course you will put in beautiful condition & order, like the others, so that we may have all our copper together - to see what gold, if any, there be in the entire collection'1. However, he never carried out the changes suggested in his pen sketch on the copper plate.
