Marchand de Meubles, Rue du Four was not exhibited in Whistler's lifetime. A worked proof () was lent by Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958) to the Whistler Memorial Exhibition in Paris in 1905. 5

SALES & COLLECTORS
No impressions of this etching were recorded as sold, but two remained in Whistler's possession, and were bequeathed to his sister-in-law Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958). She gave one in 1935 () and bequeathed the other () in 1958 to the University of Glasgow.
