The copper plate of Café Luxembourg has not been located. It was close in size to figure studies of 1887/1888 (i.e. Resting by the Stove 372), views done in London (J.H. Woods' Fruit Shop, Chelsea 327, Bird Shop - Seven Dials 384), and on Whistler's honeymoon in 1888 (i.e. Château de Bridoré 409, Place Daumont, Tours 390, The Hangman's House, Tours 393), and elsewhere on the continent between 1887 and 1889 (i.e. Petite Rue au Beurre, Brussels 341).
