PRINTING

Antony's print shop, Rue de Seine is extremely rare. Only two impressions are recorded. Bother were trimemd to the platemark and signed on the tab with the butterfly and 'imp.' to show that Whistler had printed them. One, annotated 'Early proof -' by Whistler, has been located (). It is printed in black ink on ivory laid paper. Although the detail of the shop fronts in the top half of the plate has been etched in some detail, the figures in the bottom half are barely indicated and there are several light scratched lines that indicate more figures but have not been etched at all.
