TECHNIQUE

It is pure etching. The plate appears to have been damaged and both impressions show extensive light, dense, granular foul biting (, ).

PRINTING

Only two impressions of The Little Terrace, Luxembourg Gardens, No. 2 have been located (, ). Both were printed in black ink on ivory laid paper with a partial 'PRO PATRIA' watermark. Both were trimmed to the platemark but only one - the one kept by Whistler () - was signed on a tab with the butterfly and 'imp.' to show that he had printed it.
