Two states are known before cancellation.

In later impressions the drypoint wore considerably, and Kennedy mistook these worn impressions for a separate state, his second. 9 An impression with worn drypoint is reproduced below.

Etching: K3320202

State 2

Etching: K3320302
Left to right (\\\) diagonal shading is added above and to the right of the figure's head, and along and to the right of her left shoulder; there are several short, almost horizontal lines above her hem at lower right; a series of irregular left to right diagonal lines cross the gown below her hip.

State 2 (cancelled)

Etching: PS_K332_01
Cancelled with a diagonal line.

No impression from the cancelled plate is known. This is a digital image based on the copper plate. 10

10: A scan of the copper plate was flipped horizontally, converted to greyscale, and colour inverted, with enhanced contrast.
