SALES & COLLECTORS

Whistler sold one impression of 'St Martin's Lane (Rag[)]' to H. Wunderlich & Co. for £8.8.0 on 29 June 1888. 10 This may have been the impression acquired by Howard Mansfield (1849-1938) (), which was later sold through A. A. Hahlo & Co., New York, to Harris G. Whittemore (d. ca 1937), and finally bought through the Pennell Fund by the Library of Congress.

10: GUW #13052

Two impressions were in Whistler's studio at his death. One was sold by his executrix, Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958) to Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919) in 1903 (), and the other she bequeathed to the University of Glasgow in 1958 ().
