STATE
One state is known before cancellation.
State 1
There is no signature or inscription.
The impression illustrated was printed with heavy plate tone, wiped selectively to create a lighter 'halo' around the figure ().
State 2 (cancelled)
Patches of close diagonal shading are added on the face, changing her appearance to that of a man with beard and moustache. This fine drypoint work may have preceded the loose zigzag lines that formally cancel the plate.
