TECHNIQUE
A faint, delicate, tentative, drawing in drypoint.
PRINTING
There was probably a print-run of about 20 to 24 impressions. Although it was published with the set of 'Cancelled Plates' by the Fine Art Society in 1879 it does not appear to be cancelled. It is merely rather faint. One impression appears to be in grey ink on cream laid paper, with a partial watermark like a triangle ().
It is possible that the impressions were printed by Frederick Goulding (1842-1909), who owned one impression, which was printed in black ink on a fine-grained cream laid paper (). One is in black ink on a cream wove paper (). Impressions similar to others in the cancelled edition are printed in black ink on laid papers, for instance on a cream 'modern' (post-1800) paper with 'Van Gelder' watermark (, ) and on ivory medium-weight paper with Strasbourg Lily watermark ().
