TECHNIQUE
This is both etching and drypoint.
PRINTING
There may have been a print-run of about ten impressions. Of these, three are from the first state - a touched proof in black ink on off-white wove paper (), an impression in warm brown/black ink on ivory 'modern' (post-1800) laid paper () and another in black on a medium-weight laid paper (). The final state was printed in black on ivory () and tan () chine appliqué.
An impression from the cancelled plate () was bound with a set of cancelled etchings that were published by the Fine Art Society in 1879, but this was not included in the publication, and may, indeed, never have been intended for publication.
