TECHNIQUE
Drypoint, boldly drawn, with wide spaces between groups of figures, and broken lines vividly describing the figures themselves.
PRINTING
There are only four known impressions of this drypoint. They are on different papers, as though Whistler wished to test the effect and decide on the best one for his purposes. One is on tan wove paper (), one on Japanese paper () and one on ivory laid paper with a 'HODELIST' watermark ().
