PRINTING
Two impressions of the first state have been located (i.e. ), both printed in black ink on Japan paper. An impression of the second state is also printed on Japan () and of the third, on 'modern' (post- 1800) laid paper (). Later impressions are all in black ink, but on a variety of papers including an off-white laid paper with a partial watermark ('...KE...', ), off-white Asian ('India') paper () and ivory Japan ().
Impressions from the cancelled plate are mostly printed in black ink on laid paper and usually bound in with editions of cancelled plates as published by the Fine Art Society in 1879 (i.e. ).
