Whistler dated Longshore Men '1859' on the copper plate.
Whistler made over thirty etchings during the year, including many scenes on and by the river Thames in London, such as Thames Warehouses 046, Old Westminster Bridge 047, Limehouse 048, Black Lion Wharf 054, The Pool 049, Eagle Wharf 050, Thames Police 053, W. Jones, Lime-Burner, Thames Street 055 and Billingsgate 051.
