Signed 'Whistler' at lower right; and inscribed 'Imp. Delatre. Rue St. Jacques. 171.' (the 't' in 'St' is superscript) at lower left.
Published in the 'French Set' in this state.
Some impressions show evidence of scraped-out work above the shading at left and over and to the left of the shadow at right (see).
At least two impressions, from a late printing, have many tiny grey patches across the top of the image, representing corrosion on the surface of the plate (, ).
