A man standing, facing front is unfinished and hard to date. It probably dates from the late 1880s or early 1890s.

It was close in size to several plates including Nut Shop, St James's Place, Houndsditch 356, The Visitors' Boat 303, Château de Verneuil, Touraine 408, Greengrocer's Shop, Paris 471 and Little Terrace, Luxembourg Gardens 443, which date from between 1887 and 1894.
