Gray's Inn Place probably dates from 1887. The butterfly signature is consistent with this date. It must date from the summer or autumn, because it shows people sitting comfortably on the grass.
However, it could date from the summer of 1888. It was first recorded as sold on 17 November 1888. 1

Other Gray's Inn subjects include The Long Seats, Gray's Inn 283 and Doorway, Gray's Inn 289.
