DESCRIPTION

In the foreground is a broad beach, shelving gently to the sea at upper right. On the beach are a few people walking and sitting including a woman with a parasol at left, and children playing. Beyond is a wall or breakwater, behind which are several more people, and further away, another breakwater. In the distance the ground rises to a fortification, with a lighthouse at the right and a flagpole at the left. Two sailing ships are lying below the wall of the fort at the right.

SITE

Dieppe, a busy ferry port on the coast of France.
