Neither Whistler's title nor any early title have been recorded. A descriptive title has therefore been given:

'Church Interior' (2009, Whistler Etching Project).

DESCRIPTION

The interior of a chapel or church, with a column supporting a rounded arch in the foreground at right.

SITE

Not known. It is possible that it was drawn in the Loire valley, or in Paris ... or almost anywhere. An unidentified subject that may be related to this plate is Chapel on the Hill, Loches 426.
