The copper plate bears the stamp of Whistler's main suppliers, HUGHES & KIMBER / RED LION PASSAGE / FLEET STREET / LONDON' (partly obscured). It is close in size to Seymour Haden, Jr, Seated [9] and Nursemaid and Child [42].
The plate was steel-faced but not cancelled. It was acquired by Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919), in 1906. It is now in the Freer Gallery of Art. 10
