Hunterian Art Gallery, GLAHA 50277

The master-printer Auguste Deltre (1822-1907) printed Whistler's Douze eaux-fortes d'aprs Nature (the 'French Set') in Paris and the 'Thames Set' in London. He instructed Whistler in etching and printing techniques. For instance, Deltre advocated correcting and enriching etched lines with drypoint. Whistler admired Deltre and dedicated this etching to his wife.
