Head of Whistler probably dates from 1887/1892.
The style of shading, and size of the copper plate, suggest this date. It is close in size to several etchings that date from 1887 including
The Abbey Jubilee 296 and
Children, Portsmouth 301. Whistler's appearance suggests a slightly later date but that might just be because of the faint and scratchy nature of the light drypoint lines.
