EXHIBITIONS

An impression was lent by Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919) to an exhibition organised by the Caxton Club in Chicago in 1900 (Graphic with a link to impression #K4310102). 9

After Whistler's death, an impression was shown at the Grolier Club in New York in 1904, probably lent by Freer, who certainly lent his impression to the Whistler Memorial Exhibition in Boston in the same year. 10

9: Chicago 1900 (cat. no. 271); See REFERENCES: EXHIBITIONS

10: New York 1904a (cat. no. 355); Boston 1904 (cat. no. 233).

SALES & COLLECTORS

Only two impressions are recorded; Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919) had one by 1900 (Graphic with a link to impression #K4310102) and Howard Mansfield (1849-1938) certainly had one by 1909 (Graphic with a link to impression #K4310101), probably acquired a lot earlier, which is reproduced below (the dark smudge at the bottom is ink, not etched).
