One state is known before cancellation
There is no signature or inscription.
The only known impression, illustrated here, is touched with black and grey ink behind and on the back of the girl's head and torso, around her eye and on the ruffles of her dress; the series of slightly curved vertical lines below her and the butterfly signature at lower right are in graphite pencil ().
State 1 (cancelled)
Cancelled with lines across the head and shoulder at upper left.
The only known impression from the cancelled plate was bound with a unique album, which mainly contained the 'Cancelled Set' published by the Fine Art Society, London, in 1879 ().
