Château, Touraine dates from 1888. Beatrice and James Whistler visited Paris and the Loire valley during their honeymoon in September and October 1888. The butterfly signature is of the type used after Whistler's marriage.
Related scenes etched by Whistler include Château de Bridoré [409] and Château de Verneuil, Touraine [408].
