The copper plate has a partial octagonal maker's stamp for 'HUGHES & KIMBER', Whistler's favourite copper merchants. It is marginally larger than the plates for Portrait of Whistler [5] and Annie [7], and a slightly later etching, Whistler with the White Lock [162].
The plate was steel-faced but not cancelled. It was acquired by Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919), in 1906. It is now in the Freer Gallery of Art. 18
