Provenance:Joshua Hutchinson Hutchinson, London (ca 1829 - d. 1891); probably sold at auction, Sotheby's, 3 March 1892. Bernard Buchanan MacGeorge (1845?-1924), Glasgow. Bought from Hermann Wunderlich & Co., by Charles Lang Freer (1856-1919), Detroit, MI, 1903; bequeathed to the Freer Gallery of Art, Washington, DC, 1919.

Print note:This is the impression illustrated by Kennedy for his first state, (slightly masked at the bottom edge. Listed by E. G. Kennedy (1910) as having been owned by Henry Harper Benedict (1844-1935), New York.
