Provenance:Henry Studdy Theobald (1847-1934); probably sold by M. Knoedler, New York, to unknown collector after 1907. Later (1940s?) with Kennedy Galleries, stock no. a88234. Sold at auction (C. G. Boerner, Leipzig, 30 March / 1 April 1943, lot 1304 offered 'by order of a trustee'), acquired by the Albertina, Vienna, for RM 2800.-.
