Gustavus Mayer (1873-1954) was a German-American art dealer and collector.
Life:
Gustavus Mayer was born in New York on 19 October 1873. He studied in Lausanne and Paris and became a print seller in 1899. In 1900 he succeeded Charles Obach as partner in the firm of Obach & Co. In 1911 Colnaghi and Obach merged into one firm, and Mayer later became one of their directors.
