Bertrand Buchanan MacGeorge was a merchant and print collector.

Life:

Buchanan was a Glasgow agent de change and a famous collector of the works of Meryon. Using A. W. Thibaudeau as his agent he bought Rev J. J. Heywood's collection from the Bond Street dealer Ellis. This collection sold to the U.S.A. through Colnaghi and Obach. He also owned a number of important works by William Blake. His Whistler collection was sold in 1902 to H. Wunderlich and Co. There were catalogues of his library published in Glasgow in 1892 and 1906.
